| Laser Direct, a specialized direct marketing agency, is the latest innovation from Kelly Clark and Richard Smith, entrepreneurs who own and manage Laser Image Corporate Printing, and who pride themselves in 30 years of print services innovation. Managing retail copy shops in the 1970s and 1980s, Clark and Smith foresaw a new print business model emerging. So they opened Laser Image Corporate Printing to provide a new service: printing marketing and product documentation in short runs as needed, now called on-demand printing. When Laser Image opened in October, 1987, personal computing and digital printing were in their infancy. Time passed. Computers, printers and publishing software improved by leaps and bounds, the world wide web came along offering new ways to transfer and manage digital print files, and manufacturers came out with new gear to print, fold, bind, and coat on-demand products. Laser Image absorbed these innovations to become what it is today: a company fully equipped to receive print files via a web-based service portal, then rapidly produce documentation, business identity and marketing collateral, in full color and practical quantities, with complex finishing, and to fulfill or mail it wherever it needs to go. As Laser Image was conceived to help organizations grow and succeed with high quality on-demand printing, Laser Direct uses this same expertise and equipment in a new way, to help organizations acquire and retain customers with integrated, personal direct marketing campaigns. The addition of Laser Direct completes our picture, and fulfills the vision that guided Clark and Smith from the beginning, one of building and expanding on digital expertise to provide a growing array of services to businesses, organizations and publishers. |
